Knee Replacement on Wednesday May 13 at Suburban Hospital

December 2008
Dr. Victor Wowk, after sharing space with us for the past few years,
has joined our group. We are thrilled to have him associated with
us, as the coordination between our staff and patients will be
enhanced. We look forward to a long relationship.
Dr. Stephen Rockower was recently featured on Channel 5 News,
talking about "Wii-itis", or the over-use syndromes commonly being
seen in the aftermath of the explosion of popularity of the Nintendo
game.
Dr. Neil Barkin recently had a lecture series about Aging Atheletes
and Arthritis, which was well attended by many people.
November 2008
Dr. Grossman has joined our staff and is now seeing patients. He
participates with Medicare, CareFirst, and other insurance carriers.
He is actively participating in care for many of our non-surgical
patients, and performing EMGs and other diagnostic tests and
therapeutic procedures.
October 2008
We are in the final stages of negotiation with Dr. Marc J.
Grossman to become affiliated with COR. Dr. Grossman is a
Physiatrist, or specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
As such, he will be able to complement our efforts to direct Physical
Therapy, evaluate nerve damages, perform epidural injections for
chronic pain, and aid patients in a conservative, non-surgical
manner. This is a perfect combination of our efforts for both
surgical and non-surgical care of the musculo-skeletal system. We
anticipate his arrival in early November. Welcome!!
October 2008
CareFirst, the local Blue Cross and Blue Shield affiliate, has
announced a decrease in their reimbursement levels as of
December 31, 2008. The average decrease they have declared
(NOT NEGOTIATED) is 12%. We think this is outrageous, as they
have also announced a corresponding 8-10% INCREASE in
premium levels. We think this is outrageous, and will have to
carefully reconsider our participation in their program. If you are as
upset about this as we are, please contact you Human Resources
Department or CareFirst directly at 410-872-3819.
June 2008
We are pleased to announce that we will be joined in September by
Dr. Carter Mitchell, a new young orthopaedic surgeon. A
Washington native, Dr. Mitchell is finishing a Sports Medicine
Fellowship in Birmingham, Alabama with Dr. James Andrews. We
anxiously await his arrival, and know he will be well received by
patients and our community.
On a sadder note, our Physician's Assistant, Anne Wolbert-Tesar
will be leaving us in June. She is moving to Cleveland, Ohio to take
an orthopaedic position with the Cleveland Clinic (now to be known
as "COR West"). We are saddened to see her go, but know that we
have trained her well.
