About Dr. Victor Wowk

Victor Wowk, MD, is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon and pillar of the orthopaedic community. He joined the staff at Capitol Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation in Damascus and Rockville, Maryland, and is now a partner in the practice.  Dr. Wowk is fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, and Spanish.

Dr. Wowk specializes in sports medicine, treating athletes of all ages and levels of professionality. Of all the work he does, he most enjoys operating on and advising patients who suffer from knee disorders including surgical and non-surgical treatments.  He performs arthroscopy surgery, as well as total and partial knee replacements, as needed.

After earning both his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Dr. Wowk went on to pursue his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

He then relocated to the east coast, where he received both general orthopaedic training and shock trauma orthopaedic training at the University of Maryland in College Park and later worked as a sports medicine fellow at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

When he isn’t serving his regular patients at Capitol Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation, Dr. Wowk serves the community as an on-call emergency doctor for orthopaedic injuries at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.  He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two sons.
